Tournament Date: 29 March - 31 March, 2024
HKLA will accept up to 6 men’s teams and 8 women’s teams. Payment of the full tournament fee is only required after teams are officially accepted.
The total team fee for the Men’s and Women’s tournament is HK$20,000. This fee is due by February 14th, 2024 for accepted teams.
Registration and tournament fees can be paid by direct bank transfer or PayPal. Please email payment confirmation to [email protected] under the subject line, “HKO Registration2024.”
In your email, please provide the following information: Team name, Skill level, Coach or captain’s contact information, Whether your team will play in the men’s or women’s bracket.

• Rules and Length of the Games

Men’s Games

Rules: World Lacrosse 2021-2023 Rules of Men’s Field Lacrosse Officially Playing Rules 

Length of the game: Four quarters of 15 min with 2/4/2 min intervals

Each team is allowed ONE timeout (90 sec) per half
Overtime will only be played following any playoff game that remains a tie at the end of regulation. Teams will play 4-min sudden-death periods until the game is decided
No team timeouts are given during OT
Reminders: Mouth guards are now a mandatory piece of personal equipment

Group:
Men's Division will have 1 group
In total, there will be 6 teams participating in the tournament.

Overtime:
When the score is tied at the end of regulation playing time, play shall continue with sudden-victory overtime.
i. Periods are four minutes of stopped time until a goal is scored.
ii. There shall be a two-minute break prior to the start of the first sudden-victory overtime period and between all subsequent periods of sudden-victory overtime.
iii. If a game remains tied after the first sudden-victory overtime period (i.e., no goal is scored by either side), there shall be a two-minute break followed by a second four-minute suddenvictory overtime period. This procedure will continue until the first goal is scored.

Quarter Breaks:
There shall be a two-minute interval between the first and second quarters and between the third and fourth quarters. During these intervals, all Rules governing the play of the game shall remain in force.

Half-Time:
Between the second and third quarters, there shall be a four-minute intermission or half-time. Teams may leave the bench areas during half-time.

Timeout Duration:
A team shall be limited to two timeouts per half and one timeout for every four-minute overtime period. A team timeout shall be 30 seconds long. A timeout taken between periods is charged to the preceding period. A team may not take consecutive timeouts without resumption of play. A team may call a timeout prior to the start of the game.

Round Robin:
In the initial round-robin stage, each team will play against the other teams in their respective group. After the round-robin stage, Rank 1 & 2 will be play for the championship game. The point system will be the same as in the men's tournament: 2 points for a win, and 0 points for a loss.

When the score is tied at the end of regulation playing time, play shall continue with a sudden victory in overtime.

Rank 1 & 2 will be play for the championship game.

Women’s Games

Rules: World Lacrosse 2022-2024 Women’s Lacrosse Rules

Women's Division will have two groups, Group A and Group B.
Group A will consist of 4 teams, and Group B will consist of 4 teams.
In total, there will be 8 teams participating in the tournament.

Ranking Matches:

Rank 4 of group A will play with Rank 4 of group B in the 7th place games.
Each team will play against the other 2 teams, and the rankings will be based on the points earned.

Semi-Finals:
The teams that finish 1st and 2nd in Group A and the teams that finish 1st and 2nd in Group B will advance to the semi-finals.
Group A 1st place team will play against Group B 2nd place team, and Group A 2nd place team will play against Group B 1st place team.

Bronze Game and Final:
The losers of the semi-final matches will compete in the bronze game to determine the third-place team.
The winners of the semi-final matches will advance to the final, where they will compete for the championship

Team Information

• Please note that accepted teams will be asked to submit finalized team information before 15 March, 2024. This information will include: A full team roster with first and last names (and number), headshots of each player, a high quality team logo, and a short paragraph describing the origins of the team.

Souvenirs

• We encourage teams to prepare a small souvenir to exchange with opposing teams following each match.

Awards Ceremony

• The award ceremony will take place following the championshipgames. HKLA encourages teams to stay to congratulate the winners and celebrate the completion of the tournament.

Social Dinner

• HKLA invites all players and coaches to attend a tournament social on 30 March, 2024. Additional details concerning the time andlocation of the dinner will be released as they are available. The dinner charge is HKD $500 per person.

Ticketing

• The tickets will be available free of charge for the public.
