  • Registration Information

Men’s and Women’s teams that would like to compete in the 2022 Hong Kong Lacrosse Open are required to submit an HKD$5,000 registration deposit before January 31st, 2022.

HKLA encourages teams with a substantial pool of committed players to register their team for selection.

HKLA will select up to 8 men’s teams and 8 women’s teams. The final list of selected teams will be released by March 1st, 2022. The registration deposit will be returned to teams that are not selected. For those teams that are selected, the registration deposit will be deducted from the total tournament fee. Selected teams are asked to pay the remaining 15,000HKD of the 20,000HKD tournament fee before March 20th, 2022.

The registration deposit will NOT be returned to teams that are selected but withdraw from the tournament following the team selection announcement.


  • Rules and Length of the Games

Men’s Games
Rules: World Lacrosse 2019-2020 Men’s Field Lacrosse Rulebook
Length of the game: Four quarters of 15 min with 2/4/2 min intervals

Each team is allowed ONE timeout (90 sec) per half
No overtime for pool games
Overtime will only be played following any playoff game that remains a tie at the end of regulation. Teams will play 4-min sudden-death periods until the game is decided
No team timeouts are given during OT
Reminders: Mouth guards are now a mandatory piece of personal equipment

Women’s Games
Rules: World Lacrosse 2020-2022 Women’s Lacrosse Rules
Length of the game: Four quarters of 15 min with 2/4/2 min intervals

Each team is allowed ONE timeout (90 sec) per half
No overtime for pool games
Overtime will only be played following any playoff game that remains a tie at the end of regulation. Teams will play 4-min sudden-death periods until the game is decided
No team timeouts are given during OT
Reminders: Goalies must wear mouth guard and stick checks will be conducted following each goal (per WL rules)

*Rule Changes: Women’s games at the 2022 Hong Kong Open will observe all 2020 Women’s World Lacrosse rule changes. A new rule book is expected to be released in January 2022.

- Defensive players are permitted to move through the crease area.
- Free movement is permitted on dead balls.
- No 15 meter line/arch.
- Mesh-strung sticks are permitted. Mesh pockets must meet all World Lacrosse regulations.
- 5 hash marks on the 11 meter line/arch.

Getting There: TVisitors of FTC can reach the facility by boarding the shuttle bus service in the public transport interchange in Tseung Kwan O MTR station. Duration for the ride is approximately between 5 to 10 minutes and it is free of charge.

The shuttle bus service operates from Monday to Sunday, including Public Holidays and runs approximately every 30 minutes:
Taxi
Taxis run throughout Hong Kong, including the airport (except Tung Chung Road and Roads in south Lantau)
If you are going downtown via Lantau Link by taxi, a toll of HK$30 is required. Additional charges may be added for using other toll tunnels.
If the dimensions of your hand baggage (length + width + height) exceed 140cm, additional fares for baggage will be charged.
Roughly HKD$250 - $300 from the Airport to the city

Team Information
Please note that accepted teams will be asked to submit finalized team information before March 1st, 2022. This information will include: A full team roster with first and last names (and number), headshots of each player, a high quality team logo, and a short paragraph describing the origins of the team.

Souvenirs and Raffle Items
We encourage teams to prepare a small souvenir to exchange with opposing teams following each match. HKLA also requests that each team provide one or two lacrosse items for a tournament raffle that will take place at the tournament social. This can be a helmet, a pair of gloves, a jersey or something that reflects your team’s unique brand of lacrosse.

Awards Ceremony
The award ceremony will take place following the championship games at pitch 3 of the Stanley Ho Sports Centre. HKLA encourages teams to stay to congratulate the winners and celebrate the completion of the tournament.

Travel Precautions

HKLA reminds teams to be mindful of their safety when they are planning their trip to Hong Kong. We encourage teams to observe any and all travel advisories issued by their home country's government or any relevant national agencies. HKLA will assume no liability in cases of travel delays, cancellations, or complications.
